This is the entry-level quiz for a series that becomes extremely complicated later on, and it stays firmly in the early material on purpose. Nothing here depends on the political turn the story takes in its back half, the timeline reveals, or the arguments about how it ended. It sits in the part almost everyone has seen: the opening disaster, the trainee cohort, the fortified cities, the military structure, and the handful of characters whose names anybody who watched a season could produce. Fourteen questions, and if you finished even the first season you should be comfortable with most of them. The reason it works as an easy quiz is that this series front-loads its iconography. The equipment, the wall system, the emblems on the jackets and the shape of the opening catastrophe are all established immediately and then repeated for years, so they stick in a way the later plot mechanics do not.

The series changes so completely around its midpoint that it is close to a different show, with a different setting and a reordered set of villains. That later material is where the genuinely hard trivia lives, and none of it is in this quiz.
If you watched the first season years ago and stopped, you are still the target audience for this one. If you finished the whole thing, treat it as a warm-up.
Humanity in this story lives inside a set of concentric fortifications, and each ring is a named place rather than a generic barrier. Which one falls, and when, is the event the entire first arc is built around.
Several questions rely on knowing those names rather than just the concept. Viewers tend to remember the collapse vividly and the naming not at all.
Recruits choose between organisations with genuinely different jobs: one polices the interior, one guards the walls themselves, and one goes outside. That choice is a major early plot point and the branches carry distinct names, insignia and reputations.
The organisation that operates beyond the walls is the one the series follows, and its leadership are among the most recognisable characters in it.
The harness-and-grapple rig that lets soldiers move through the air is the visual signature of this show and one of the most recognisable pieces of hardware in modern anime. It also has an official name that is used constantly in dialogue and that plenty of viewers have never registered as a name at all, hearing it as background jargon.
Family names are the sticking point. Several characters are referred to almost exclusively by their first name in dialogue, so the surname questions catch people who have watched the whole thing and simply never had a reason to store that half.
