Every question in this quiz works the same way: you are given a career and asked for the person. A description of what somebody achieved, which organisation they built their name at, what they were known for doing better than anyone else, and four names to choose between. Fifteen of them, drawn from six different competitive scenes. That format is the whole difficulty. Esports fandom is intensely vertical, and most people follow exactly one game and know its stars the way you know colleagues. Ask them about the equivalent figure in a title they have never watched and they are guessing. This quiz deliberately spans a shooter scene, a strategy scene, a battle royale scene and India's own competitive circuit, so almost nobody arrives with the full picture. It is not about mechanics or patch knowledge. It is entirely about people, and whether you have paid attention outside your own corner.
Background and what to expect. No answers given away.
Professional players are known almost exclusively by a chosen alias, and those aliases follow no pattern at all. Some are shortened surnames, some are unrelated words, some are deliberately unpronounceable, and capitalisation is often part of the identity.
You will not be asked for anyone's legal name. Everything here is the name printed on the jersey.
A handful of figures in this quiz have competed at the top level for over a decade, which in esports terms is close to geological. Their names became shorthand for excellence, and in at least one case a player's alias is more recognisable than the organisation he plays for or the game he plays it in.
Longevity is itself a clue. If a question describes someone as having dominated an era rather than a season, the field of candidates narrows fast.
Several questions come from India's mobile competitive circuit, which built its own stars, its own organisations and an enormous streaming audience largely separately from the older PC scenes.
If you follow that circuit, those questions are the easiest here. If you follow only western PC esports, they are the hardest, and vice versa. That asymmetry is the point of including both.
You will not be asked for anyone's headshot percentage. The clues are the things fans actually say about a player: that they carried an unfancied roster, that they won the first edition of something, that they were the face of a title's competitive launch, that they led rather than fragged.
Read them as character sketches. They are written to be solvable by someone who has heard of the player rather than studied them.
Nobody follows six scenes. The players you recognise instantly will be the ones from the game you watch, and the rest have to be reasoned out from the clue rather than recalled.
