About This Quiz

This is the entry point to our Automotive category and the easiest quiz in it. Fifteen questions asking which country a manufacturer comes from, which company builds a famous model, what a particular emblem represents, and which luxury marque sits under which parent group. Nothing mechanical, nothing about performance, no specifications. Car brands are among the most heavily advertised names on Earth, which means most people carry a surprising amount of this knowledge without any interest in cars at all. You have seen these badges on the road every day of your life. Rated Easy for that reason. If it feels too simple, the category goes considerably deeper: a manufacturer quiz that works backwards from model names, a clue-based identification challenge, quizzes on Japanese performance cars and on hypercars, and a Hard one on engine tuning that assumes you have actually built something.

Topics Covered

Countries of origin
Iconic models and who builds them
Luxury marques and their parent companies
Logos and brand identity
European, Japanese, Korean, and American makers
Performance cars, SUVs, and luxury saloons

Before You Play

Background and what to expect. No answers given away.

National identity is a marketing asset

Car brands lean heavily on where they come from. German engineering, Italian design, Japanese reliability, American size: these associations are cultivated deliberately and are usually accurate enough to be useful.

Several questions ask for a country of origin. If you are unsure, the brand's own advertising has probably told you the answer many times.

Emblems usually mean something

Most car badges are not abstract. They depict a founder's heritage, a merger of companies, a regional flag, an animal or an aspiration, and once you know the story the badge is easy to attach to the marque.

One well-known emblem is four interlocking rings representing four companies that combined. Another is a three-pointed star representing ambition across land, sea and air.

The famous models outlive everything

A handful of nameplates have been in continuous production for decades and have sold in the tens of millions. Those names are more recognisable than the companies that build them, particularly the long-running family saloons and the American muscle cars.

Questions here name the model and want the manufacturer, which is the more forgiving direction.

The luxury end is mostly owned by someone else

Prestige marques are rarely independent. Most belong to large groups that acquired them decades ago and keep the brand identity carefully separate from the parent.

That is why an English luxury name may be German-owned and a British off-road marque Indian-owned. The badge tells you about heritage, not about who banks the money.

The Challenge

Ownership is not obvious from the badge. Several prestigious marques are owned by much larger groups based in a different country entirely, and that gap between identity and ownership is where the points go.
